Sfumatura Scenes: The Exorcist is Still Scary!

Donald Southern worked on this classic horror story as a scenic artist. The film, a multi-award nominee, was a frightening experience for a graduate of Catholic School. The movie, based on a true story, involved a 14 year old boy and 7 Jesuit priests in a small town in Maryland. Originally published as a novel, William Peter Blatty had heard the story of the exorcism of a boy in Maryland and based his novel "The Exorcist" on the research he did about the case. Coverage of this demon possession was covered in the local newspaper. The Exorcist in today's dollars is the ninth largest grossing movie of all time. We think it's still scary!
